Main Street Station: A Fairytale View - Richmond, Virginia

Main Street Station

1500 E Main St, Richmond, VA 23219

The night view of the Main Street Station in Richmond, VA., is quite the experience.  Right under i-95 you can pull in and park your car.  There are places to sit as well, and you will often see people waiting for their train to arrive -- or just enjoying the view and sounds of the cars passing by.  It is my favorite place to go when I'm having a restless night and just need to get out and wander.

Originally built-in 1901, by the Seaboard Air Line Railroad (SAL) and the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway (C&O), the Main Street Station is still going strong today and is currently served by Amtrak.

This fairytale view, along with the surrounding area of Shockoe Bottom, is a must visit when in Richmond!  I remember driving into RVA for the first time in December – while experiencing the view from i-95, and it practically made my heart skip a beat.  Whenever I visit the Main Street Station today, I immediately imagine myself flying off to Neverland.  Then I am quickly reminded that I am already living my own version of a fairytale -- right here, in Richmond, VA.
