Simply Chic - From Shirtdress to Overcoat

Mostly everything I wear is secondhand/handmade, which has become a passion and art form. What started as a thrill of the hunt hobby, has become a lifestyle choice, I am happy I have made. I believe fashion should be fun, ethical, and economical, and not come at a cost that damages the environment or human/animal population.

So with that said, this is the first of many "fashion" posts that will occur on my tiny corner of the internet. Filled with tips and inspiration for buying secondhand, as well as offering some of our fave finds for purchase in our shop section.

Simply Chic - From Dress to Overcoat

This is a corduroy Orvis shirtdress that I found and loved, but it did not look right on my frame. So I improvised and turned it into a chic overcoat and rocked it on a cool rainy day. Sometimes with fashion we run into that problem, when we absolutely love something but it doesn't quite look right, that doesn't mean we have to let it go, sometimes it means we just need to have a little fun, improvise, and make it work for our body type.

What do you think? Would you try this style out? Have you tried it? Let me know in the comments below! Would love to hear you fashion tips and tricks as well. If you try this look out send us a pic so we can appreciate your styling.

Everything I am wearing has been thrifted, and I encourage you to head to your local thrift shop with a list of these items to hunt for, before purchasing brand-new. I will link some copycat items below to help you get a better idea of what you will be looking for + the dress I am wearing that we are selling in the shop:
